제네바 소재 국제기구 현황

제네바 주정부(Republique et canton de Geneve)가 2019.10월 발표한 보고서 <Les organisations internationales etablies a Geneve: resultats de l’enquete 2019>에 따르면 2019.3월 기준 제네바 소재 정부간 국제기구(IOs, international organizations)는 총 36개라고 합니다. 스위스 연방정부는 2008.1월 발효된 국제기구 소재지협정에 관한 법률(Host State Act)에 따라 국제기구를 ① 본부협정(headquarters agreement) 체결 국제기구, ② 조세협정(tax agreement) 체결 국제기구 또는 ③ 특권 및 면제에 관한 협정(agreement on privileges and immunities) 체결 국제기구 3가지로 구분하고 있으며, 본부협정 체결 기구는 23개, 조세협정 체결 기구는 4개, 특권 및 면제에 관한 협정 체결 기구는 9개입니다. (상세 기구 리스트는 아래 참조)
동 국제기구에 근무하는 직원 수는 총 26,645명이며, 2018년 기준 국제기구의 총지출은 연간 63억 스위스 프랑인 것으로 파악되고 있습니다.
한편, 제네바에는 약 420여개의 비정부간 국제기구(INGOs, international non-governmental organizations)가 소재하고 있고 동 INGO에 3,109명이 근무하고 있다고 합니다.
